Founding Computer Vision Applied Scientist

HartleyCo is seeking a Founding Computer Vision Applied Scientist to build and own core computer vision systems as they scale from single-store retailers to enterprise customers. The role involves shipping production-grade models and owning the end-to-end model lifecycle, including data strategy, quality assessment, training, evaluation, and deployment.

Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end model lifecycle: data strategy, quality assessment, training, evaluation, deployment, and inference optimization
Design and ship modern computer vision models for real-world video surveillance use cases
Write production-quality PyTorch / TensorFlow code that runs reliably at scale
Partner closely with engineering (Turkey-based) to operationalize models via strong MLOps practices
Present technical insights clearly to both engineers and executives
Help define the AI foundation of an enterprise product suite built from the ground up

Required

Strong applied computer vision background (detection, tracking, video understanding, etc.)
Proven experience shipping ML models to production
Comfort working across data, modeling, and systems (not siloed research)
Experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, W&B, or similar)
High ownership mindset — this is a founding role, not a narrow IC lane
