Static Stress Engineer (Contract)
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Static Stress Engineer to join our Repair Solutions department based in Wichita, Kansas. The role involves supporting the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and ensuring quality justifications from a static stress perspective in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions that are simple to routine in nature for the airlines and internal customers within given time scales
Perform stress/strength analyses to assess that structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods. Assignments include structural sizing/documentation and subsequent certification documents for in-service fleet support
Liaise with Design, Fatigue and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions for the airline customer
Liaise with Principal and Senior Static Engineers in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments
Ensure that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition
Identify local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements
Ensure all tasks and activities required are executed to planned time scales
Provide responses for simple to routine repair queries by giving guidance as required within Airbus Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner
Together with other Repair Design and Fatigue Engineers, be a member of an integrated engineering team, ensuring its strategy, policy and direction is maintained
Analyze and Validate metallic structures for static & fatigue strength according to validated methods
Ensure adherence to regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities guidelines
Define, interpret and validate tests
Interface and communicate with relevant stakeholders
Provide relevant input to design for the creation of drawings for manufacture and support to other functions (i.e. production, customer support) as needed
Provide stress analysis for the repair/acceptance of damaged structures
Perform monitoring/guidance/support of Sub-contracting firms providing structure analysis work to Airbus
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials is required
10+ years total analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs
Position requires knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods
Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint) and Google Suite (GMail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) required
Team player demonstrating a positive & collaborative attitude
Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability
Ability to write reports and business correspondence effectively
Dependable, self-motivated and accessible
Must be able to communication effectively in English (verbal and written)
Authorized to Work in the US
Preferred
MRO/Fleet Engineering experience is preferred
Experience in airframe design (metallic & composites), F&DT, SRM, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part25, Certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, and PATRAN, is desired
Working knowledge of all Airbus Structures preferred
Knowledge of Airbus stress/fatigue manuals and tools preferred
Demonstrated problem solving ability
Conversational in French and/or German is a plus, but not required
