Post-Masters ST Internship
Los Alamos National Laboratory is one of the world's most prestigious multidisciplinary research institutions. They are seeking post-master level students for a challenging paid internship in the Nuclear Systems Group, where candidates will work on projects related to nuclear safeguards and security applications, under the guidance of a mentor.

Responsibilities
Provide modeling, analysis, and software development capabilities to design and evaluate the potential risks of complex systems
Evaluate proliferation risks in the nuclear fuel cycle and make recommendations for enhancing safeguards and nuclear security applications
Design and implement software solutions for use in nuclear safeguards and nuclear security applications
Work on a challenging project based on the candidate's skills and interests
Qualification
Required
Recent graduates (MS Degree) would qualify for a 2-year appointment through our Post Master's program
All viable candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 for consideration and have earned the degree no more than 3 years ago
A resume and current transcript, showing GPA and course work requirements, are required
Candidates must typically be pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Computer and Information Sciences, Computer Engineering, Systems Administration, Computer Networking, Computer Systems Analysis, Software Engineering, Information Systems Security Management, Mathematics or Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics
Knowledge and/or introductory experience in one or more of the following areas: Network analysis and secure network and application deployment, Reverse engineering, Cryptography, Software development, especially API development, Proficiency in C, C++, C#, ASP.NET, Python, Database administration in SQL and MSSQL, Data integration and automation from a variety of data sources

Due to federal restrictions contained in the current National Defense Authorization Act, citizens of the People's Republic of China, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), and the Russian Federation, who are not Lawful Permanent Residents are prohibited from accessing facilities that support the mission, functions, and operations of national security laboratories and nuclear weapons production facilities
Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing
Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law
A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer
Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory
If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader
