Sr Electrical Estimator - ICON Electric
Kelso Industries and Icon Electric are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join their team. The role involves preparing detailed electrical estimates for various projects, consulting with clients and vendors, and maintaining professional relationships throughout the estimating process.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed electrical estimates for projects ranging from $250K to $2M, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
Develop preliminary and conceptual pricing based on early discussions, limited drawings, and site conditions
Assist with estimating and pricing for projects that are not fully designed, including constructability input
Identify and support value engineering opportunities to optimize cost and scope
Account for hidden and indirect costs, including engineering, testing, commissioning, permits, and general conditions
Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to refine scope, pricing, and assumptions
Attend job site walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings to assess field conditions
Request, review, and level material and equipment pricing from vendors and suppliers
Prepare complete bid packages, including scope letters, labor estimates, and clarifications
Convert preliminary budgets into finalized pricing as designs progress
Participate in sales efforts and client meetings as needed during preconstruction
Maintain strong, professional relationships with vendors, clients, and contractors
Keep internal stakeholders informed on bid status and progress
Support change order pricing and post-bid reviews
Perform other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 7 years of electrical estimating experience, with 5+ years of estimating tenure at prior companies
Strong experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects
Proficiency with Accubid, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong understanding of labor factoring, takeoffs, and productivity modeling
Ability to identify risk, scope gaps, and pricing exposure
Ability to supervise, review, or mentor other estimators as needed
Strong client-facing communication and negotiation skills
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously
Preferred
Electrical apprenticeship or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management preferred
