Sports Turf Technician - Wesley Chapel District Park
Forsyth County is seeking a Sports Turf/Horticulture Technician to join their team. This role involves assisting and directing the maintenance of athletic sport turf and related landscaping projects under limited supervision.

Responsibilities
Operates and assists in supervising the maintenance of athletic sport turf, ballfield care and renovations, landscaping and related projects and activities
Personally operates and assists with work of equipment, sprayers, spreaders, tractors, sweepers, aerators and related equipment
Follows all safety practices and procedures
Inspects and maintains equipment
Makes general operating decisions and determines most efficient use of equipment and staff in the absence of the Sports Turf Supervisor
Maintains detailed operating records and prepares reports
Keeps supervisor informed orally and in writing
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
Three (3) years experience in athletic field and sport turf care and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Must possess a valid driver's license
Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and push or pull heavy objects
Ability to bend, stoop, walk and squat frequently
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication
Ability to perform work out-of-doors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions
Ability to handle prolonged periods of work while wearing safety equipment (i.e. respirator, spray suit, gloves)
Knowledge and skill in the application, installation and maintenance of sport turf and ballfield care, maintenance and renovations
Knowledge of materials, equipment and supplies used in turf care
Ability to understand, interpret and effectively carry out complex, oral and written instructions
Knowledge in turf grass, irrigation and soil composition
Ability to maintain operating records and prepares reports
Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment
Ability to calibrate equipment and perform mathematical calculations
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions relating to chemical applications
Ability to develop and maintain effective and productive working relationships
Ability to safely operate vehicles and various equipment to include aerators, top dressers, sprayers and spreaders
Preferred
Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM) preferred
Possession of a Commercial Pesticide Application License preferred
