Human Resources Assistant

Clay County Missouri Human Resources is seeking a detail-oriented and highly professional Human Resources Specialist to provide essential administrative and clerical support to their Human Resources Department. This role involves managing inquiries, developing health initiatives, and ensuring accurate correspondence while maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Create, compose, and edit complex correspondence, memoranda, charts, and reports; ensure all materials are accurate and complete
Serve as the first point of contact for the HR Department, managing phone inquiries and greeting guests with professionalism
Provide guidance to new and existing employees regarding HR questions and concerns
Plan and execute health-related activities, including health screenings, nutrition programs, seminars, and annual health fairs
Develop initiatives to improve employee mental, emotional, and physical health, prioritizing overall wellness and ROI

Required

High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized coursework in office practices, accounting, or bookkeeping
1–3 years of increasingly responsible experience in Human Resources or a related field
A reputation for honesty and trustworthiness; must pass a background check
Valid state driver's license
Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to speak, read, and understand English fluently
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, SurveyMonkey, Canva and database management
Demonstrated empathy, initiative, and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment
Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and work independently without direct supervision
Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound business decisions

Preferred

Prior experience in public sector employment or government HR
Proficiency with ADP software
