Director of Clinical Training & Professional Development

Responsibilities
Assess current training programs, tools, instructional design, learning platforms and modify content and approach based on best-in-class practices
Partner with business unit leaders to cultivate, develop, coordinate, and implement training and development strategies to meet the goals of the business units
Manages hands on clinical training and classroom training programs to include establishing criteria for trainer selection , competency testing and developmental programs for trainers
Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure a complete understanding of mid to long -term learning objectives that align with talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to deliver impactful human capital outcomes
Collaborates with functional areas and organizational leaders to assess ongoing and future training and developmental needs as well as effectiveness of established programs
Develops a program delivery schedule that provides training as needed and in locations that work for the participants
Research new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing training programs
Oversees and establishes relationships with vendors to provide additional outside training programs
Instructional Design - Develop programs, materials and job aids designed to meet identified instructional/informational needs, including training for new staff and refresher training for experienced staff to meet the operational needs of the organization
Evaluate program effectiveness and revise training programs, materials and instructional materials as required to ensure achievement of program objectives by learners and the program as a whole
Be a resource to and serve as an expert for all internal and external stakeholders in providing innovative and effective learning and development solutions
Manage training team development and performance management
Review new hire skills assessments & proficiency exams and 30:60:90 post campus training plans
Oversee logistics & coordination of overall clinical training processes at each campus
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience with curriculum design and development and strong foundation with learning technologies including developing courses required
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Business, Science and other relevant field required
Knowledge in methods and principles for designing programs to teach, train and instruct both groups and individuals, including the means of assessing the effects of training
Strong customer and personal service skills, including customer needs assessment, evaluation of satisfaction and ensuring quality standards of service
Expertise in curriculum, course development including didactic and clinical teaching methods
Expertise in proficiency evaluation methods and testing of ophthalmic personnel
Familiar with surgical and procedural consents, pre and post operative instructions
Understanding and analytic capabilities consistent with operational flow analysis and coding and compliance
Demonstrate proficiency in professional development program - leadership skills, conflict resolution, culture building, organizing and customer service skills
Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) and practice management (EPM) systems
Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrate energetic professional, empathetic demeanor to patients and coworkers
Preferred
Clinical Operations experience in multi-site clinical practice setting developing training programs highly preferred
Advanced Degree and or clinical education experience, COT/COMT certification highly desirable
Expertise in all aspects of ophthalmic pre-exam workup, basic and advanced ophthalmic testing including but not limited to demonstrated proficiency in case histories, visual acuity testing, EOM and pupil testing, refraction, keratometry, tonometry, visual field testing, OCT testing, topography, fundus, optic nerve and external photography, biometry A-Scan/ IOLMaster, preliminary slit lamp exams with angle grading
Knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, surgical procedures and ocular medications
