Responsibilities
Perform directed neuronal differentiation from human PSCs involving long term sterile cell culture, scale-up, cryopreservation and thawing experiments
Formulate hypothesis and perform optimization experiments to develop next-generation cell products with enhanced characteristics (composition, potency, maturation)
Conduct fluorescence and/or magnetic-activated cell sorting experiments
Design, plan and execute experiments using single cell (multiplexed) RNA sequencing pipeline
Analyze single cell RNA sequencing and multi-omics data using python, R and other tools
Apply gene editing, viral gene delivery, and/or chemical screens to develop neuronal cell products
Use the latest molecular biology tools and assays (immunocytochemistry, Flow cytometry, scRNAseq, etc.) to label, track and characterize neuronal populations
Develop and perform cell-based assays to test product characteristics and potency
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from discovery, process, and preclinical departments
Maintain detailed records according to industry standards
Provide results for team, department and board meetings
Author and contribute to conference abstracts, publications, and regulatory reports
Willing to work a limited number of hours overtime and/or on weekends
Qualification
Required
PhD with up to 3 years of relevant experience or Masters degree with 6-8 years of relevant experience in Molecular/Cell/Developmental Biology, Neuroscience or related field
Hands on experience with sterile mammalian cell culture, human pluripotent stem cell (hIPSC/hESC) culture, in vitro differentiation and neuronal cell culture
Solid experience in single cell RNA sequencing and multiomics data analysis using bioinformatics
Expertise in gene delivery, including viral transduction with LV/AAV
Expertise in histochemical techniques and microscopy
Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving
Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn, expand skill set and contribute to a highly dynamic start-up environment
Ability to deliver within fast-paced timelines
High integrity, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Strong team player, able to work on teams and independently
Proven scientific achievements evidenced by high-impact publication record
Able to take initiative to improve work processes, develop innovative scientific methodologies and approaches to enhance research productivity
Preferred
Solid understanding of human stem cell biology and developmental neuroscience
Experience with tissue sectioning and histochemical techniques involving brain tissue is a plus
Experience with high content microscopy data analysis is a plus
Experience with calcium imaging and/or multi-electrode arrays is a plus
Experience with patch clamp and patch-seq is a plus
