Legal Assistant Trainee

The Legal Assistant Trainee is an entry-level role designed for recent graduates or individuals beginning their career in legal support, participating in a structured 12-month training program that provides hands-on experience across Intake, Pre-Litigation, and Litigation functions.

Responsibilities
Attend and successfully complete all training segments of the Legal Assistant Trainee 12-month training program
Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and handling correspondence
Assist in preparing, editing, proofreading, filing, and maintaining legal documents, ensuring that all records are accurate and accessible within the case management system
Act as a liaison between the legal department and all attorneys, facilitating communication and document exchange, and helping to streamline operations
Track contract deadlines, renewal dates, and other critical legal timelines
Assist in case file research, monitor compliance with legal regulations, and support the preparation of legal filings and firm reports
Coordinate with internal departments as needed
Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Stay informed of relevant legal and regulatory changes that may impact the company
Qualification
Required
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to prioritize and multitask, moving from one project to another efficiently
Ability and desire to learn and adapt to new skills and technologies quickly
Aptitude to interface with attorneys, clients, and staff professionally
Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and compliance requirements
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in legal studies, Business, Political Science, or a related field preferred
Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience desired
Internship or administrative experience in a legal setting is a plus
