This advanced-level role involves managing all aspects of SQL Server database administration and providing authoritative guidance to technical teams to ensure optimal database performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

Manage physical database administration including schema management, security, installations, upgrades, patches, backup/recovery, space management, performance tuning, and capacity planning
Support application teams with troubleshooting and performance tuning
Administer SQL Server databases across Production, Test, and Development environments, including Microsoft SharePoint farms
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server features such as Always On Availability Groups
Develop and implement database recovery plans and procedures
Analyze database performance and recommend tuning and application changes
Implement user authentication and validate database security protocols
Review system designs and develop new database systems as needed
Modify database structures and deploy schema changes based on new requirements
Automate operational jobs and batch data loads using scripting
Maintain working knowledge of Cohesity Backup Appliance and cloud technologies

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
7+ years of experience in database administration or related fields
Expertise in SQL Server administration, including Always On configuration and performance tuning
Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning
Experience with scripting for automation and operational efficiency
Familiarity with cloud technology and governance
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with ability to work independently
