Responsibilities

Perform check out duties
Sell a variety of merchandise items such as prepackaged snacks, drinks, candy, etc
Coordinate the sale of food snack items and the preparation and sale of short order items
Ensure the proper preparation, portioning, display and price marketing of food items and adherence to correct receipt and pricing procedures
Maintain sales records and accountable documents
Maintain security of work areas, cash, fixed assets and merchandise inventory
Ensure compliance with fire, safety, sanitation and security regulations
Operate cash register, ring up the sale, receive money and make change, process credit card sale, or charge to member's account
At the end of each tour of duty clear the cash register, turn over cash and supporting documents
Perform daily inventories
Maintain a clean and orderly working area
In a Food Activity: Perform check-out duties such as ringing up food, beverages and merchandise by individual item; totaling sales; processing credit card sales; receiving money; and making change
May perform related food service duties such as assisting in setting up the serving line, replenishing beverage dispensers, chopping lettuce, tomatoes, etc., and ensuring kitchen staff is advised when buffet line needs replenishment
In a Restaurant: Receive patrons' meal checks, ring up sales on cash register, receive money, and make change
Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained, requisition merchandise and assist with periodic inventories

Required

No previous experience required
Ideal candidates would possess the skill or ability to perform common arithmetic problems to make change when receiving payments from customers
Knowledge of, ability or skill in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes (1) direct handling of cash items, and (2) use of cash accountability control methods
Skill in dealing with the public
Must be able to obtain a valid health card
This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program
