Responsibilities

Practicing and promoting company Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
Working with support organizations and other sites within the Global Nitriles Business to share and implement best practices
Working with operations and maintenance personnel to improve unit reliability
Participating in unit design reviews, management of change process, HAZOPs, and root cause failure analyses as needed
Actively participating in plant turnarounds
Reviewing and evaluating mechanical design drawings and specifications
Evaluating equipment fitness for service and recommending repair options
Reviewing contracts for design and construction management of engineering projects
Acting as project manager on engineering projects and manage project issues, budgets and schedules
Reviewing drawings and equipment to ensure conformance to standards and specifications
Supervising 3rd party contractors
Preparing engineering analysis of projects to include: preliminary design, caluations, life cycle cost and equipment selection
Accountable mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping, recommends new designs and improvements to current plant equipment.Troubleshoots problem and recommends solutions
Demonstrates expert level mechanical integrity and design engineering expertise and makes a significant contribution through innovative solutions to complex technical problems
Provides technical input to procurement strategy for piping and equipment and works with Procurement on relevant commercial issues including qualification of equipment fabricators
Provides input into equipment standards which deliver competitive advantage as well as mechanical integrity and reliability

Required

Minimum BS Mechanical Engineering
5+ years experience working in petro/chemical facilities in a mechanical integrity role
Expertise in PSM Mechanical Integrity
Ability to work independently
Excellent organizational skills
Expertise in API standards, welding and heat-treating procedures
MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
Team oriented
Good interpersonal skills; able to deal with both external vendors and employees at all levels
