Employers Council is seeking a Specialized Legal Services Staff Attorney to join our team. The role involves providing legal counsel on employment law issues, conducting compliance reviews, and developing training resources for members. The attorney will also engage in pay equity analysis and maintain strong relationships with member organizations.

Responsibilities

Provide Pay Equity Analysis services to members, including grouping of positions engaged in equal work, review of pay practices for potential legal defenses, analysis of potential legal vulnerabilities, recommended corrective actions, and preparation of final written report
Review Affirmative Action Plans for accuracy and compliance before they are delivered to members and advise on areas of non-compliance
Counsel members on implementation of Affirmative Action Plan and accompanying recommendations
Provide advice and counsel to members concerning federal and state/local contractor EEO obligations; and state and federal laws governing pay equity, drug testing, and background checks, including DOT drug testing regulations and the FCRA
Research and regularly stay apprised of changes in affirmative action regulations and pay equity laws and provide advice to members on these updates
Assist members with compliance reviews, including those given by the OFCCP, CDOT, and state agencies
Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with members through regular phone and virtual communication
Develop and present training courses and webinars for members on compliance with pay equity, federal contractor obligations, drug testing, and background checks
Create and update various member resources including white papers, sample policies, agreements, template webinars, and website blog articles
Propose and deliver presentations/speeches to community/industry groups on pay equity, affirmative action, background check, and drug testing law related topics to audiences ranging in size from a handful to a hundred or more
Provide supplemental support to the Workplace Investigations service line by conducting effective investigative virtual interviews and creating witness statements; and preparing report(s) documenting and analyzing evidence, assessing witness credibility, and making factual findings
Provide excellent customer service to member companies and contacts, as well as colleagues within Employers Council

Required

J.D. from an accredited law school and Colorado bar admission is required
3+ years of experience in employment law or related field, preferred experience advising employers on equal pay issues and affirmative action obligations (workplace investigations experience is a plus)
Knowledge of key laws and regulations governing federal contractors such as Executive Order 11246, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), preferred
Knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws governing drug testing and background checks
Excellent judgement and the ability to analyze problems, propose resolutions, and provide advice while considering the needs of the member organization
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, specifically related to data input and categorization
Demonstrated ability to manage varied caseload
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster relationships
Regular and reliable attendance is required
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-functional team
A passion for providing top notch customer service and supporting members
