RFID Lab – Software Engineer (Undergraduate)

Auburn University RFID Lab is seeking a motivated and skilled Student Software Developer. This position involves developing and maintaining web-based applications that support the lab’s research activities, utilizing technology to optimize processes and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain applications for data management, visualization, and research collaboration
Work closely with researchers to understand their software requirements and provide technical solutions
Participate in the design, testing, and deployment of new software features
Assist in the integration of computational tools and databases
Document and maintain software functionality
Ensure the robustness and reliability of web applications
Perform data collection and data analysis to investigate the performance of large-scale RFID deployments
Responsible for creating reports for data presentation and customer communication
Responsible for evaluating the performance of RFID systems in retail stores and standard lab test environments
Responsible for operating, maintaining, and trouble-shooting RF test equipment

Required

Currently enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student
Majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Must have reliable transportation

Preferred

Strong programming skills with experience in application development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#)
Experience working with web applications, and or frameworks (NextJS, Remix, Vite/React)
Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL)
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with non-technical team members
Knowledge of data visualization tools and libraries is a plus
Technically capable with the ability to quickly become familiar with hardware, software, processes and new technologies is a plus
Basic Knowledge of RF systems and computer networks is a plus
