They are seeking a Software Engineering Intern to contribute to the development of the PowerAnalyzer module, gaining hands-on experience in full-stack development, data analysis, and modern engineering practices while learning the fundamentals of power engineering.

Responsibilities

Support development of the PowerAnalyzer module by gaining an understanding of product functionality, architecture, and purpose
Learn core concepts in power engineering and how they apply to grid modeling and forecasting
Assist with bug fixes, feature development, and test automation
Generate, prepare, and load test datasets for engineering analysis
Work with backend systems including PostgreSQL and (future) Snowflake
Contribute to UI development using Node.js
Collaborate in code reviews and follow software architecture best practices
Support CI/CD pipeline improvements using Azure DevOps and other DevOps tooling

Required

Intermediate Python programming skills
Experience working with relational databases
Ability to analyze data
Understanding of software architecture principles: abstraction, design patterns, etc
Ability to learn, curious and adaptable to changing priorities
Professional workplace communication and collaboration abilities
Able to work on site in Itron's San Jose office one day per week

Preferred

Advanced Python programming skills
Previous experience with source control systems (e.g. git)
Basic understanding of unix/linux and networking concepts
Related work experience
