Project Superintendent
Navigate Search is a nationally recognized civil construction firm seeking a Superintendent to lead site operations on a high-profile infrastructure project. This role is central to the successful delivery of a complex deep-excavation initiative involving secant piles, caissons, and support-of-excavation systems.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage work plans and sequencing for excavation and SOE scopes
Coordinate engineering reviews and installation planning for secant piles, soldier piles, tiebacks, rakers, and caissons
Review and manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and field changes
Identify risks related to subsurface conditions, sequencing, and site logistics
Oversee day-to-day field operations, including excavation, drilling, and foundation installations
Monitor heavy equipment use (e.g., excavators, cranes, drilling rigs, haul trucks)
Ensure work complies with structural, geotechnical, and environmental requirements
Maintain quality control through inspections and field verification
Enforce safety protocols aligned with OSHA and internal policies
Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments
Ensure environmental compliance, including groundwater and soil management
Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials (steel, concrete, bracing systems, dewatering equipment, etc.)
Supervise subcontractor work, productivity, and schedule adherence
Review progress reports and verify subcontractor billing
Act as site liaison for engineers, inspectors, agencies, and client representatives
Lead coordination meetings and facilitate communication among stakeholders
Deliver regular reports covering schedule, cost tracking, and risk analysis
Qualification
Required
10+ years of field leadership in civil or heavy construction, including deep foundation and SOE systems
Extensive hands-on experience with secant piles, caissons, soldier piles and lagging, and steel bracing systems
Strong understanding of excavation logistics, soil mechanics, and geotechnical design
Ability to interpret construction drawings, engineering reports, and regulatory documentation
Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project
Preferred
OSHA 30 certification
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
PMP, EIT, PE, or Deep Foundation Institute (DFI) training/certifications
