Responsibilities
Prepares mechanical drawings; maintains quality and structure to accepted standards
Maintains the accuracy of drawings and associated bills of material, including appropriate documentation for revisions of drawings and bills of materials
Continually seek methods of controlling and reducing costs while ensuring that the company meets customer expectations
Ensures manufactured parts are released on time to meet the company timeline; Reports any expected difficulties
Provides support regarding problems relating specifically to the mechanical design of equipment
Provides technical support to Purchasing regarding optimal parts and component options
Provides technical assistance to assembly when called upon by supervisor
Reviews drawings produced by co-workers when called upon by supervisor
Supports the RFQ process and attends project evaluation meetings when requested. Delivers accurate material and Engineering hours estimates
Demonstrates good judgment and tact in solving problems and difficult situations
Consistently shows the ability to recognize and deal with priorities. Produces the best use of time during working hours
Willing to perform other duties as requested or needed
Respects the confidentiality of the company, customers, and personnel information
Qualification
Required
Mechanical Engineering Degree
Minimum of six years experience in AUTOCAD design software or equivalent
Minimum of six years experience with SOLIDWORKS design software or equivalent; Proficient in generating 3D models and detailed drawings
Demonstrate the proven ability to layout and detail mechanical components and assemblies
Must be familiar with performing Finite Element Analyses on part and assemblies using SolidWorks simulation
Must have the ability to understand and calculate ratios, and mechanical loads
Must have good sheet-metal and weldments design experience
Must have strong problem-solving skills with good written and verbal communications
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings
Must be able to write routine business reports and correspondence
Preferred
Preferred six years experience in designing PACKAGING EQUIPMENT
Bachelor's (Preferred)
Mechanical Engineering for packaging machinery: 5 years (Preferred)
