Facilities Services Technician, Community Arts Center

Pennsylvania College of Technology is seeking a Facilities Services Technician for the Community Arts Center. The technician will assist with custodial duties, grounds maintenance, and event coverage, ensuring the facility is well-maintained and prepared for various events.

Responsibilities

Assist with aspects of custodial, grounds, maintenance, and event coverage at the Community Arts Center
Provide event coverage for Community Arts Center and other College events during the scheduled shift and outside of the scheduled shift
Work in different campus buildings and locations to accommodate the needs of General Services; during delays and snow-closure days that may fall on scheduled workdays; on short notice, including evenings, weekends, special events, and call-ins, at the discretion of the appropriate supervisor; using a college vehicle to travel to other campuses and buildings; and using an iPad, laptop, or desktop to complete work orders and communicate with others
Drive trucks, scissor lifts and forklifts
Assist plumbers, carpenters, electricians, masons, and painters with general maintenance duties
Assist with the installation and repair electrical lighting systems and fixtures
Assist with the installation and repair of wood/metal framing, insulation, drywall, trim, acoustical ceilings, etc
Patching, sanding, scraping, priming, and painting of surfaces
Assist Horticulturists with various groundskeeping duties including but not limited to cleaning of outdoor areas, mowing, weed control, mulching, snow removal
Haul gravel, mulch, sand, topsoil, equipment, supplies to and from various locations
Move College offices and equipment
Assist Custodians with various duties, including but not limited to floor care, finish removal, refinishing, burnishing, mopping, scrubbing, carpet cleaning, vacuuming and laundry
Dispose of trash and recycling
Cleaning of surfaces, such as, walls, windows, ledges, desks, chairs, fountains, ashtrays, whiteboards, blackboards
Dust various areas
Maintain stairways and landings
Clean restrooms and replenish supplies
Provide proper disinfection of surfaces of surfaces as necessary
Remove snow from walkways
Replace light bulbs and clean lighting fixtures
Set up areas for and function as an Attendant at special College events
Assist with repairs to concrete work, walls, ceilings, floors, steps, walkways, and furnishings
Lifting 65 lbs. maximum, without assistance, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs
Working off ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts at high elevations
Travel to main campus buildings when necessary
Exposed to dust and harsh chemicals in cleaning products
Work outdoors in extreme conditions

Required

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructions
Ability to communicate both orally and in written form
Possession of a valid driver's license
Working knowledge of computer applications related to work order systems and Microsoft Office/Office 365 programs
Must have training and/or certification in forklift operation or become trained/certified prior to performing forklift responsibilities
Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues

Preferred

Experience as a custodian
Experience in general maintenance duties, such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC
Experience in general lawn and grounds duties
Experience operating mechanical lifts
Operate a plow truck
