WEC Energy Group is one of the nation’s largest electric generation and distribution and natural gas delivery holding companies serving 4.7 million customers across the Midwest. They are seeking a Renewables Engineering Intern to support PV Solar and wind projects, assist with operational performance, and provide general engineering support. This internship offers hands-on experience for students currently enrolled in a four-year degree program in engineering.

Responsibilities

Support PV Solar projects, including observing field activities, updating equipment records, and focusing on operational performance and optimization of solar sites

Support wind project operational performance and optimization

Review and revise technical documentation and drawings

Perform ad hoc investigations of emergent equipment issues

Use available data to investigate performance or reliability issues within the solar and wind fleets

Provide general engineering support to PG-Renewables group

Track ongoing tasks across sites and support engineers and supervisors

Drive continuous improvement by researching emerging utility solar trends

Alternate between remote and office work as needed (hybrid setting)

Travel to generation sites in remote locations in WI, MI, IA, or IL

Required

High School Diploma, GED, or HSED

Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering degree with a graduation date after June 2026

Minimum GPA of 2.8

Valid Driver's License

Preferred

Interest in Renewables, specifically PV Solar applications, including any course work or involvement within the field

Experience working in a hybrid setting

Sophomore standing or higher is preferred
