TRIAL ATTORNEY
The DC Department of Human Resources is seeking a Trial Attorney for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) in Washington, DC. The role involves conducting legal research, advising, and litigating cases to protect the interests of the District and its residents while collaborating with various agencies and preparing for litigation.

Responsibilities
Analyzing complex factual and legal issues
Monitoring federal legal and regulatory changes
Collaborating with and advising District agencies
Working with outside counsel
Preparing matters for litigation, including preparing pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses
Appearing in court
Collaborating with other states in multi-state litigation
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school at the time of appointment
At least three (3) years of civil litigation experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Experience handling a large volume of cases
Ability to work under pressure without sacrificing the quality of work
Self-starter with the ability to work with a high degree of independence
Active member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar or ability to waive in and be admitted within 360 days of appointment
Preferred
At least six years of relevant litigation experience
Creative orientation toward the law
Ability to propose innovative legal and non-legal strategies to protect the rights of the District and District residents
