Government Affairs Policy Analyst

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Vice President, Government Affairs/internal staff to support organizational responses to external requests for guidance, information, and technical assistance concerning policy/regulatory/legislative/appropriations issues relating to NCMEC’s programs
Support the Vice President, Government Affairs in executing strategic outreach to Congress
Track and stay up to date on legislative initiatives and trends relevant to NCMEC’s mission
Assist in compiling NCMEC data and case examples for written testimony and briefing documents relating to NCMEC’s Congressional priorities and positions
Coordinate with NCMEC’s social media team on postings relating to Congressional legislative issues
Help develop and maintain protocols to track and store Congressional legislative communications, collateral, bill trackers, and proposed bills
Other duties and special projects as assigned by Vice President, Government Affairs or Chief Legal Officer

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 1-2 years' experience relating to: (1) government/Congressional relations, Federal legislative affairs, or public policy matters; and/or (2) child protection policy issues required
Previous experience working in or closely with a law firm, non-profit, Congressional legislative office, academic institution, or similar environment required
Previous experience with or working knowledge of non-profit, constitutional, criminal justice, child-related and technology-related issues required
Experience researching/drafting legislative/legal/policy issues required
Strong written, oral, and analytical skills
Demonstrated skill and comfort level in researching, summarizing, and analyzing data and policy documents and drafting correspondence, briefing documents, social media, and related collateral
Curiosity to learn more about the legislative process and nonprofit advocacy
Excellent judgment in setting priorities and interacting with internal and external contacts
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated ability to effectively perform research and balance multiple tasks
Diligence and past success in pursuing positive outcomes in difficult situations
Ability and dedication to learning about NCMEC programs and operations
Demonstrated proficiency in using word processing, spreadsheet, and standard database programs, as well as basic internet and research databases
Adaptability, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team and in an individual capacity
Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of sensitive material and information
Passion for the issues affecting missing and exploited children
