Responsibilities
Build and maintain distributed backend services using Java and related technologies (e.g. SpringBoot, Gradle)
Own feature development from design to deployment, including architecture, implementation, and production readiness
Design high-performance APIs and services for real-time and data-intensive workloads
Proactively improve architecture, frameworks, tooling, code standards, automation, and engineering processes
Collaborate closely with product management, DevOps, and engineering peers to bring features to life
Optimize performance, scalability, reliability, and observability across the backend stack
Use AI as a core accelerant to development velocity and quality
Mentor team members and help shape the future of the engineering organization, with a clear path toward a management role
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and testing Java code
Extensive hands-on experience implementing and scaling distributed SOA systems
Experience designing highly available and observable distributed services
Strong judgement balancing multiple competing product priorities vs. engineering investments
Tools and skills: Postgresql, AWS, long-running Java processes (e.g. web/http services), SpringBoot, Gradle, Redis, and NoSQL
Experience leading and mentoring junior Software Engineers
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
