Responsibilities

Performs work site risk evaluation surveys and consultative services and recommends solutions to minimize risk

Provides support to insureds for State surveys and accreditation requirements

Performs assessments and surveys

Performs trending and analysis of data to identify areas of needed improvement to minimize claims

Conducts educational and training programs and presentations on a broad variety of topics for insureds

Partners with underwriting and claims to provide risk evaluation information

Contributes to the development of departmental policies and procedures

Assists with preparation of annual departmental budget

Maintains continuing education for licensure and certification by attending seminars, workshops, etc

Maintains active membership in local, State, and national professional organizations

Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external business partners

Identifies opportunities for development of new programs and services related to risk management and safety

Provides expertise in a variety of healthcare specialty areas

Visits each insured based on need, but no less than twice annually

Interacts and volunteers with insureds for fund-raising efforts and other healthcare-related events

Required

Requires college degree or minimum of three years' experience in risk management

Maintains a current license as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama

Possesses a current Alabama driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance coverage

Presents strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners

Demonstrates effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent assignments

Functions in a self-directed method and demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Demonstrates knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and best practices related to healthcare

Exhibits good judgment and ability to make sound decisions

Adapts easily to a changing work environment

Utilizes the entire suite of Microsoft Office software, Internet use and other computer software

Able to travel extensively

Possesses the ability to lift and move loads up to 35 pounds and stand for prolonged periods
