Ascensus is a company that provides pension actuarial consulting services through Nyhart’s Defined Benefit team. The Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for reconciling data, preparing valuation reports, and maintaining client relationships while working towards obtaining actuarial credentials.

Responsibilities

Reconcile census and financial data utilized in preparing accounting and funding valuation reports
Draft routine deliverables, including contribution requirements, accounting costs, government forms and other standardized reports
Update assumptions and provisions in third-party software for use in annual valuations
Prepare and/or review routine benefit calculations
Develop and maintain expertise on design and plan administration of assigned clients
Interface with client to handle routine valuation and administration-related tasks
Work towards attaining actuarial credentials
Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients

Qualification

Actuarial sciencePension plan valuationsExcel applicationsProValAnalytical skillsTask managementCommunication skillsAttention to detail

Required

Bachelors degree in actuarial science, math or math related field
Overall GPA 3.0 or higher
Math or Actuarial GPA 3.5 or higher
Passing grade on at least one actuarial exam
Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft, particularly Excel applications
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage tasks and meet deadlines in connection with business operations

Preferred

Prior experience as an analyst supporting pension plan valuations and/or actuarial consulting teams
Experience with ProVal
Exposure to public sector/church plans
