Associate Director of Development, Albers School of Business and Economics

Responsibilities
The Associate Director identifies, cultivates, and solicits leadership annual gifts and major gifts, while actively stewarding all portfolio prospects through proposal development stages in conformity with the university’s prospect management protocol
Build, manage, and engage a donor portfolio for current and future solicitations. Prioritize personal visits with identified prospects. Establishes fundraising goals and reports on progress
Make qualification face-to-face visits beyond those in the portfolios (discovery)
Support the Albers School advisory boards with giving and solicitation requirements. Ensure advisory board members are invited to key events and receive annual solicitations. Attend each advisory board meeting once annually to discuss philanthropy
Arrange and lead visits for donors and prospects with key Albers School partners, including alumni, industry stakeholders, foundations, and corporations
Collaborates with UA annual giving staff regarding Albers School annual giving efforts such as SU Gives and direct mail
Responsible for securing matchings and other incentives to amplify giving
Ensures annual donor impact reporting is correct and timely for endowed and recurring gifts
Ensures timely and appropriate acknowledgement for all gifts, verifies that gifts are properly recorded in the appropriate fund and are documented in the university's gift processing database
Coordinate with the Albers School Director of Development and UA Events & Stewardship team to plan donor cultivation and stewardship events, including developing invitations, programming, logistics, and briefs as appropriate
Strategically invite and host guests at program-specific or university-wide events as it fits with the strategic plan for potential donors or alumni
Partner with Albers School and Seattle University Marketing and Communications and UA Marcom to produce published written materials and online content that engage donors, prospects, and alumni in the work of the Albers School
Ensure that all events and alumni relations activities are within established budget goals and meet best practices and university policies for events. Ensure tracking for all event activities are properly recorded in donor database (Raiser’s Edge)
Ensure Albers School volunteers (like mentors) are tracked in donor database (Raiser’s Edge)
Coordinate with Director of Development, Albers School Director of Marketing and Communications, Dean, faculty, and staff to ensure regular donor and alumni communication meets deadlines and goals. Recurring current communication includes Albers Brief, Dean Spam (dean newsletter), and alumni newsletters
Submit social media content related to giving to the Albers School marketing team
Work with Albers marketing team to update Albers giving pages on a regular basis
Recruit, train, monitor and manage student workers who work for the Albers School advancement team
Attend trainings and meetings for University Advancement as well as for the Albers School, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Development, the Dean of the Albers School and the AVP for Development supporting university/college advancement
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of annual giving, or individual gift fundraising experience in higher education or a comparably complex organization with an emphasis on cultivating and soliciting gifts
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing
Excellent project management or event planning skills
Proficiency with Windows, Word and Excel; willingness to learn the university's Raiser's Edge database system
Ability to travel occasionally and to attend evening/weekend events as required
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision and values
Preferred
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in individual gift fundraising with an emphasis on individual donor cultivation and solicitation experience
Experience with corporate relations is a plus
