This role is responsible for executing Internal Controls over Financial Reporting and SOX control testing, supporting senior leadership in identifying and mitigating operational, regulatory, financial, and reputational risks.

Responsibilities
Execute ICFR and SOX control testing across real estate lending and operational processes
Support and regularly interact with senior management regarding risk, control performance, and remediation status
Develop and implement operational risk frameworks, methodologies, reporting, testing approaches, policies, and procedures
Design and maintain programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risks within real estate lending operations
Promote operational efficiency and service excellence through risk-based process improvements and training
Collaborate with lending, compliance, audit, and other operational risk teams across the organization
Liaise with internal and external audit and regulatory examination teams
Track, manage, and report issues, findings, and risk events through remediation and closure
Review, update, and maintain policies and procedures supporting the business
Perform root-cause analysis on control failures, issues, and audit findings
Evaluate the adequacy of corrective action plans and report remediation progress
Ensure business units comply with remediation commitments
Recommend and implement process and system improvements to strengthen control environments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Engineering, Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, or another analytical field
5-10 years of experience in risk, controls testing, audit, or compliance within a financial institution
Required experience performing SOX, ICFR, compliance, or operational control testing
Experience conducting and facilitating Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs)
Hands-on experience with GRC systems
Experience identifying, tracking, managing, and reporting issues and findings
Strong understanding of inherent vs. residual risk and key vs. non-key controls
Working knowledge of risk and control best practices within financial services
Preferred
Big Four or consulting firm background
Experience working with banking, credit union, or financial-services regulators
Knowledge of real estate lending
Experience with regulatory bodies such as NCUA, CFPB, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, or VA
Risk or regulatory certifications such as PRM or FRM
