Responsibilities
Collaborate directly with medical researchers, senior statisticians, and epidemiologists on national and international infectious diseases clinical trials and observational studies with minimal supervision from senior statisticians
Conduct periodic, and final analyses of data, using specialized statistical techniques and statistical programming
Determine proper summary statistics, report formats, and all other analysis considerations
Review the proposed study methodology, study parameters, and all other related study factors of concept sheets and protocols to ensure conformance with accepted statistical principles
Recommend revisions and modifications
Determine and write statistical considerations for protocol documents and statistical analysis plans, according to study design and appropriate statistical methods
Develop stratification and randomization materials in compliance with the study design
Collaborate with senior statisticians on methodological research related to infectious diseases
Oversee the development of data collection forms and proposed data management methods to ensure that the data to be collected will meet study objectives and allow valid analyses
Ensure integrity of data collection, data review, data compilation, and analysis techniques by monitoring protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with proper statistical techniques
Identify potential or actual administrative or scientific problems; suggest and implement corrective action
Prepare periodic and ad hoc data status reports
Collaborate with clinicians and senior CBAR statisticians on manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications documenting study findings
Participate in peer review and critique or reports and analyses, collaborate in resolution of technical problems, and maintain professional knowledge and expertise
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely-related field required
3+ years of related experience required
Experience with statistical software (such as SAS, Stata, etc.) required
Preferred
Two-year Master's Degree (MA/MS) program
Education may count towards experience
Statistical experience with multi-center clinical trials, or equivalent collaborative statistical experience
Highly specialized and technical knowledge of statistical analysis and principles including categorical data and censored failure time data analysis
Advanced computer skills and experience with major statistical computing packages
Experience with independently analyzing data from clinical trials using statistical techniques
Experience contributing to the writing of manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications documenting study findings
Experience in effectively collaborating with study chairs, medical officers, protocol specialists and database managers
Familiarity with medical terminology
Attention to detail, organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills
