Traffic Manager
DLA Careers is seeking a Traffic Manager to manage the transportation and traffic program at a Distribution Center. The role involves supervising employees, directing freight operations, and serving as a technical authority on transportation operations.

Responsibilities
Position serves as a full Deputy to the Distribution Center's (DC's) Traffic Manager; primarily involved in managing the transportation/traffic program at a DC within the DLA Distribution
Assists in executing the traffic management program for the Distribution Center
Supervises employees directly and indirectly through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors
Directs employees in accomplishing responsibilities related to freight consolidation, freight terminal operations, freight transportation, and material movement activities
Serve as a DC's technical authority on transportation operations and programs, interpreting higher level guidance and ensuring policies and procedures are appropriately executed by the subordinate staff
Maintains liaison and participates with other DCs, foreign government representatives, other Services and agencies, as well as commercial freight forwarders to resolve problems related to the transportation of material

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position
To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement
Creditable specialized experience includes managing or participating in managing a transportation or traffic program involving operating a transport or traffic system to move passengers or commodities of an organization when there is accountability for operating costs
Creditable specialized experience includes operating a transportation system to provide common carrier types of services to shippers
Creditable specialized experience includes procuring common or other carriers and other transportation services to move an organization's personnel, freight, and/or other commodities
Creditable specialized experience includes conducting or participating in conducting surveys and studies of the traffic management function, operating methods, procedures, and performance
Creditable specialized experience includes making presentations on traffic matters before Federal, State, or local regulatory bodies
Creditable specialized experience includes performing loss and damage prevention work when this included responsibilities such as policy and procedures formulation and studies of traffic operations and services
Creditable specialized experience includes negotiating with carriers and/or regulatory bodies on questions of rates, transit privileges and charges, special services and charges thereof, and classification of commodities
Creditable specialized experience includes providing advisory service involving commodity analysis from the transportation standpoint
