Intern- Advocate
BCFS Health & Human Services is dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by human trafficking. The Survivor Advocacy Intern will work alongside Advocates to provide crisis response, case management, and survivor-centered services while also assisting with administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
Assist advocates during crisis response calls (shadowing initially)
Help meet immediate survivor needs: clothing, food, resources
Participate in CSE-IT vulnerability assessments (training provided)
Assist with ongoing advocacy, emotional support, and case management
Help coordinate referrals and develop service plans
Maintain communication with clients under advocate direction
Document supervised interactions within 24–72 hours
Assist with organizing and restocking the client clothing closet
Support the Dignity Program: outreach to businesses, resource development
Assist in gathering resource information for advocates and survivors
Attend MDT meetings, case staffing’s, and selected trainings
Participate in weekly staff meetings and the Advocacy Resiliency Group
Report red flags or safety concerns to supervisor immediately
Follow mandated reporter laws and BCFS HHS – Common Thread – TX procedures
Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries
Complete all required pre-service and risk management training
Follow supervision and perform duties under guidance of staff
Complete assigned tasks on time
Attend weekly supervision meetings in person
Maintain professional communication and punctual attendance
Uphold all confidentiality, safety, and mandated reporting standards
Participate actively in team meetings and discussions
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in or actively pursuing a graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field
Experience working with vulnerable youth, survivors, or trauma-impacted populations
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory capacity through academics or professional experience
Pass all required background checks and screenings
Participate in all program trainings
Demonstrate strong communication, emotional regulation, organization, and leadership potential
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
