Western & Southern Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the organization’s financial operations. This role involves managing financial statements, ensuring accurate account reconciliation, and guiding the accounting team to maintain compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of financial report writing, interpretation, and presentation to executive leadership

Manage the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards

Supervise general ledger accounting, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations

Ensure compliance with SOX controls and assist with internal and external audits (auditing)

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow analysis to maintain optimal financial health

Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliation and monitor financial transactions for accuracy using various software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero

Lead budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making

Mentor and develop junior accounting staff through effective mentoring practices, fostering a collaborative team environment

Maintain knowledge of complex areas such as LIHTC, non-profit accounting, securities law, and other regulatory frameworks relevant to our operations

Ensure adherence to legal requirements related to estate planning (wills, trusts & estate law) when applicable

Support special projects involving financial analysis for private equity investments or governmental funding programs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Extensive experience in corporate accounting, including experience with public accounting or large-scale enterprise environments

Proficiency in advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and enterprise systems like PeopleSoft

Strong knowledge of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting principles including accruals, journal entries, and financial statement preparation

Experience with regulatory reporting requirements including SOX compliance, LIHTC programs, and governmental accounting standards

Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data through effective analysis and report writing

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

Strong leadership qualities with experience mentoring teams of accountants or finance professionals

Knowledge of tax regulations, payroll processing, bank reconciliation procedures, and account reconciliation processes
