Naval Architect
Derecktor Shipyards is looking for an experienced Naval Architect to join their team. In this role, you will develop blocking and lifting plans for vessel dry-docking while contributing to the design and execution of new build and refit projects.

Responsibilities
Plan and oversee the development of blocking and lifting arrangements for vessel dry-docking, elevator transfers, and strap lift operations
Collaborate with shipyard personnel, production teams, and project managers to ensure safe and effective execution of vessel moves
Provide onsite support during haul outs and launches
Execute design calculations and prepare drawings for new builds and vessel modification/refit projects
Develop structural, stability, and weight distribution analyses to support ship design and alterations
Review and verify compliance with classification society rules, flag state regulations, and industry standards
Support or lead engineering activities on large-scale or high-priority projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, specifications, and financial parameters
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (production, procurement, QA/QC, planning) to ensure constructability and integration of designs
Preparation and submittal of drawings to relevant regulatory bodies
Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and client reports
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
10 years related industry experience in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
At least 5 years of experience working as field engineer in a shipyard is required
Proficiency in AutoCAD™ or similar 2D design software is required, along with proficiency in 3D Computer-Aided Ship design (CAS) tools
At least 5 years experience in providing production design support to shipyards in new vessel construction, refit, repair, and vessel modification
The ideal candidate will have documented experience with IACS Classification Society rules, ABS Ice Class Rules, 33 & 46 CFR, MARPOL, SOLAS, Stability book interpretation and other codes applicable to vessel design and engineering
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Preferred
A U.S. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
Spanish language proficiency is a plus
