Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA) Intern
NEOGOV is offering a paid internship opportunity within the Town of Truckee’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Program. The intern will assist in community engagement and outreach activities, supporting the planning and implementation of various programs and events.

Responsibilities
Performs a variety of administrative, program-specific, and project-related assignments in support of an assigned Town department to receive on-the-job exposure and gain practical experience in a professional or technical field of study
Researches, analyzes, summarizes, and interprets information and data from various sources; checks data and analyses; prepares and assembles reports, manuals, articles, and other informational materials; may conduct presentations of findings and recommendations
Performs a variety of office and administrative tasks in support of Town departments including answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, filing, and photocopying
Maintains and updates record systems and databases; verifies accuracy of information; enters and updates department and project files; retrieves information and generates reports as required
Writes reports, letters, memoranda, and other documents
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to the completion of the tenth (10th) grade. No experience required
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and Town staff
The structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination, including computers and software programs relevant to work performed
Learn and understand the organization and operation of the Town and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities
Research, organize, and present information and data in an effective manner
Prepare clear and effective reports, correspondence, and other written material
Organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments
Effectively use computer systems, software applications, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax
Use tact, initiative, prudence, and judgment within narrowly defined policy, procedural, and legal guidelines
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Apply and uphold the Town-wide and departmental goals and the Town Employee values of Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability, Commitment, and Excellence
Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse socio-economic, racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, diverse abilities, gender, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation of Town staff and community served
Preferred
Spanish language skills are preferred to support the Town's commitment to language access and inclusive community engagement
