Responsibilities

Responsible for monitoring the network within the firewall (LAN)
Responsible for monitoring the network beyond the firewall (WAN)
Responsible for monitoring the network maintenance and performing any updates and changes, to include identifying issues, documenting issues, and developing resolutions
Responsible for remediation of vulnerabilities
Responsible for ensuring configured devices are maintained and properly configured and labeled to ensure environments can be duplicated across multiple ships
This position may require shift work based on 24x7x365 operations
Assist in all phases of support, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems, and operating system configuration issues, are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, and resolved
Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure resolution in a timely manner
Support the current reporting of enterprise metrics for network and cybersecurity operations
Provide initial remote troubleshooting, analysis, and triage of reported events
Act as both an external and internal-facing point of contact to facilitate handling of problem reports and escalate technical issues and communicate network status
Support software and hardware issues and ensure stable system performance
Execute engineering tasks in support of system performance tuning on workstations, applications or network infrastructure in support Linux, Unix, Microsoft Windows operation systems services, observe industry best practices, standards, and procedures
Support maintenance and monitoring of the system/server infrastructure to include patching, system upgrade, backup, and configuration
Assist in conducting problem management process (root cause analysis) attempt to determine the real or underlying cause of an incident in order to prevent future recurrences
Also support forensic analysis, triage and break fix of system server/server related trouble tickets
Receive and document subscriber site cybersecurity incident reports, and communicate to appropriate parties
Assist in account management for internal users and external subscriber organizations
Perform certification and professional development training to remain current on technologies and to improve skill sets and efficiency
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Associate's degree in computer science or related field with 8+ years' experience in understanding U.S. maritime industry network best practices
Experience with maritime/vessel network operations, network development, security and production
Understanding of marine operations and IT methods, techniques, and practices sufficient to select, recognize, adapt, and apply shipboard principles and practices
Experience with Maritime network architecture, hardware, software, IT space configuration, and emergency response
Ability to work with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, satisfy expectations, knows products and services
Ability to support shift work
Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills
Customer service focus, and strong interface/communication skills
Ability to ask relevant questions of customers and engineers in support of problem resolution
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Ability to follow procedures and work instructions to perform tasks
Identify process gaps and proactively improve system inefficiencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

US Citizenship
Associate's degree in computer science, engineering, management information systems, networking, telecommunications, computer engineering network engineering, or equivalent work experience in related fields
Navy, Coast Guard, or maritime network background
A minimum 4 years of maritime network engineering experience
A minimum of 8+ years working in a Network Operations Center
A verifiable and current Cisco Network certification – Cisco Certified Networking Professional Enterprise (CCNP Enterprise) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
