Responsibilities
Apply core engineering principles such as mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and materials to real-world medical device designs
Design and validate medical products using tools like FEA, GD&T, CFD, and related analysis methods
Develop and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems, including motors and fluid-based designs
Lead technical work and documentation required to meet medical device standards
Identify design challenges early and drive practical, efficient solutions
Serve as a technical point of contact for clients on smaller development programs
Analyze experimental and test data to guide design improvements
Create clear, concise reports to communicate results, trends, and recommendations
Provide direction and mentorship to technicians and designers, helping the team do their best work
Write verification test protocols and prepare test reports
Partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, scalable, and manufacturable
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year university
At least 5 years of experience developing new medical products across the full product life cycle
Hands-on experience with requirements development, prototyping, verification testing, and product release
Experience working with electromechanical systems, particularly motors, fluid flow, and material selection
Familiarity with IEC 60601 and ISO 14971 standards
Ability to commute to Maple Grove, MN 55369
