Early Learning Coach

North Texas Area United Way is seeking a HIPPY Home Visitor to engage parents and caregivers in a developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children. The role involves conducting home visits, facilitating educational interactions, and maintaining family progress reports.

Responsibilities

Meet with each parent or caregiver weekly in their homes or a mutually agreed upon site to role play the curriculum and increase parent or caregiver educational interaction with their child
You will be expected to use your personal vehicle for home visits and be reimbursed for mileage
Some home visits may need to occur in the early evening hours which you will need to accommodate. See special note below
Meet with Coordinator and other HIPPY staff in weekly sessions to better understand the curriculum
Follow all regulations, policies and requirements of NTAUW, the grant funder and the HIPPY program
Record and create a home visit or site visit report on each family's progress during weekly meetings
Maintain confidential family files (forms, pull pages, referrals, enter Visit Tracker data, etc.)
Establish home visiting scheduling; complete and record progress reports accurately; keep notes and inform the coordinator of any problems, concerns, or questions
Participate in all required HIPPY functions (group meetings, field trips, recruitment events, etc.)
Attend staff development as deemed necessary by HIPPY policy and/or the Coordinator, for the purpose of ongoing training. Out of town travel is required for some training
Perform HIPPY required pre and post assessments on the HIPPY child or children and pre and post surveys for parents and caregivers
Complete other assigned duties and assist in other tasks, as requested by Coordinator and/or Director of Texas Home Visiting

Required

High School Diploma, or GED Equivalency
Parent of a 2, 3, 4, 5-year-old child or have access to a 2,3,4 or 5-year old child (Grant Requirement)
Highly organized and accountable
Independent, self-motivated worker
Able to learn and understand and incorporate the three roles of a parent educator: partnering, facilitating, and reflecting into daily practice with families
Able to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths
Competent with computer skills; including web browsing, e-mail, Internet, and word-processing
Use training to improve performance and leadership skills
Team Player
Able to easily build relationships and gain the trust of parents or caregivers of preschoolers
Able to keep information confidential and maintain highest standards of ethical conduct
Ability to use basic Microsoft Office suite and learn new skills as required
Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, valid driver's license and be willing to travel within the Wichita County area on a daily basis, and other travel as needed
Must complete a Department of Family and Protective Services Background check
Must be eligible to work legally in the United States
HIPPY Home Visits must be scheduled according to the client availability which will often include evening hours which Home Visitors must be able to work
Some recruitment and publicity events take place on holidays or weekends, and Home Visitors must be able to work these events as well

Preferred

Experience in social services or customer service is desirable but not required
Bilingual Preferred
