Field Inspector

Madrid CFTL is a growing civil and geotechnical firm dedicated to ensuring safety and quality in infrastructure projects. The Field Inspector role involves performing on-site testing and documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform on-site field testing and observations related to roadway construction activities, including earthwork, base, asphalt, concrete, and drainage components
Collect, test, and document construction materials in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards
Record daily field activities, test results, material quantities, and general site conditions in a clear and timely manner
Identify nonconforming materials or construction practices and promptly report findings to supervisors or project engineers
Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and project staff to support resolution of field issues
Follow established testing procedures, documentation protocols, and quality control practices
Promote jobsite safety by complying with safety policies and reporting unsafe conditions or practices
Maintain accurate field logs, test reports, and supporting documentation for project records
Support project closeout activities by ensuring field documentation is complete and properly submitted

Qualification

Earthwork Level IACI Field Level ICTQP certificationsFDOT specifications knowledgeMicrosoft Office proficiencyDocumentation skillsCommunication skillsProblem-solving abilities

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have Earthwork Level I and ACI Field Level I
2+ years of relevant field experience in roadway construction or inspection, preferably with FDOT projects
Working knowledge of FDOT specifications, standards, and procedures
Strong documentation and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and inspection software
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities in a field-based setting
Valid Florida driver's license and dependable transportation required

Preferred

Associate degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred
CTQP certifications strongly preferred: Asphalt Roadway Level I/II, Earthwork Level I/II, Concrete Field Testing Technician, etc
