Correctional Program Specialist, (Curriculum Developer)
USAJOBS is seeking a Correctional Program Specialist who will be responsible for developing training methodologies and curricula aimed at preparing individuals for successful reentry into communities. The role involves planning, developing, and revising lesson plans and providing technical expertise to institution staff.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the identification of training needs and the development of training methodologies to meet those needs
Responsible for planning, developing, writing and revising lesson plans, visual aids, and pre/post exams
Works with management to develop Labor Management relations, leadership and executive courses for supervisors, managers, human resources, and executive staff
Designs and develops curriculum materials, program delivery and media support to provide the most effective instructional programs
Provides field support assistance and technical expertise to institution staff on implementation, delivery and evaluation of developed curricula that are delivered locally

Required
U.S. Citizenship is Required
GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related
Graduate Education: Major study--correctional administration, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology, or other fields related to the position
GS-12: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this level
GS-11 & GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization
Specialized experience is directly related experience that included substantial involvement with a correctional program and provided a thorough knowledge of correctional techniques, or experience in meeting and dealing with people that demonstrated the ability to work effectively with inmates and associates in a correctional environment
Experience must have also demonstrated the ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties successfully
Knowledge of and skill in needs assessment, task analysis, course design specifications, development planning, curriculum management and project management
Knowledge of training manual construction and design
Knowledge of adult teaching and learning theories, procedures and methodologies required to develop and deliver appropriate instruction and training programs for a variety of programs in the correctional field
Experience using a variety of correctional programs necessary to develop curriculum, materials, and training programs
Experience in formulating needs assessment, task analysis, course design specifications, development planning, curriculum management and project management
Experience in identifying flaws in program areas and recommending solutions to resolve issues through the development of curriculum
Combination of Education and Experience: GS-11 Only: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the major duties of this position as described above
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
