Programmer/Analyst II
Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking a Programmer/Analyst II to support advanced data analysis and machine learning initiatives in their Gynecologic Oncology Department. The role involves developing software applications and SQL queries, implementing machine learning algorithms, and collaborating with research teams to analyze complex datasets relevant to biomedical research.
Responsibilities
Support advanced data analysis and machine learning initiatives in collaboration with clinicians and basic scientists
Develop and maintain software applications and SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze complex datasets from clinical and hospital systems
Implement basic machine learning algorithms to uncover patterns and insights relevant to biomedical research
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data used in research projects and write detailed reports for the analysis
Work closely with research teams to define data and modeling requirements, document program logic, and generate reports that support grants
Take a lead in the analysis of certain projects and meet with collaborators and mentor lower-level programmer/analysts, as required
Monitor program performance, troubleshoot issues, and refine data processing methods
Contribute to the design and enhancement of data systems to meet evolving research needs
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field; or
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time software development experience; or
Associates degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time software development experience; or
High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma with a diploma or certificate in a computer science, or related field and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time software development experience
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices
Preferred
Master's or PhD degree in computer or data science
AI-related programming language experience (Python, Julia, R)
Experience with clinical or -omics datasets
Work within and on containerized environments
Experience with high-performance computing
Customer service experience
Development team experience
Experience with machine and deep learning modeling
Federated learning experience is a plus
