Instrument Technician I,II,III (New Canton, VA -Bear Garden Power Station Power Station)
Dominion Energy is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy. They are seeking a highly motivated Instrument Technician I, II, or III to perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of control instruments in a power station.
Utilities
Responsibilities
Perform a full range of inspection, testing, service, repair, calibration, and install indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, and similar components in a power station
Locate cause of defective performance of instruments, report findings to supervisor, and replace component parts as required
Use portable pressure gauges, manometer, and other similar test equipment
Perform preventive maintenance
Test flue gas, read meters, and record data as required
Perform tuning tasks on single loop controls
Maintain and perform necessary changes to drawings related to instrumentation
Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Exercise independent judgment and decision-making in planning; organize and conduct work assignments; may receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and knows when to get others involved; effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments; and identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value added activities
Qualification
Required
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity
At least 0 - 2+ years of related experience in an industrial environment for Instrument Technician I with an Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology OR at least 2 years of related experience in an industrial environment with a High School Diploma or GED
At least 3 years of related experience in an industrial environment for Instrument Technician II with an Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology OR at least 5 years of related experience in an industrial environment with a High School Diploma or GED
At least 5+ years of related experience in an industrial environment for Instrument Technician III with an Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology OR at least 7 years of related experience in an industrial environment with a High School Diploma or GED
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components
Ability to utilize configuration drawings
Valid Driver's license
Combine cycle experience a plus
Recommended test results from the EEI Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) aptitude test, administered on site during the pre-employment process
Recommended test results from the EEI Technician (TECH) aptitude test, administered on site during the pre-employment process
Preferred
Fossil power station instrumentation and controls experience
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
Start-up/operational support experience for fossil power plants
Experience with ABB and GE Mach VI e controls
Control system upgrade experience
PLC experience (to include ladder logic programming)
Must have availability and flexibility to work OT as needed, including days, nights, and weekends
