Responsibilities

Analyzing complex legal and factual issues
Conducting extensive research
Developing well-reasoned legal strategies
Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
Preparing complex pleadings
Written discovery
Depositions
Petitions for reconsideration
Trial briefs with a high degree of autonomy
Collaboration with Claims Partners
Providing timely and effective communication
Legal advice and support to clients
Maintaining professional diplomacy in interactions with courts
Witnesses
Opposing counsel
Co-counsel
Facilitating prompt and efficient resolution of cases
Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence in trials
Hearings
Arbitrations
Alternative dispute resolution proceedings
Researching
Drafting
Filing
Arguing appellate briefs in reviewing courts
Participation in team huddles
Conducting in-house training for junior associates and claims partners
Engaging in claims file reviews
Attending continuing legal education seminars

Qualification

Required

Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers' Compensation cases
JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of California
Trial experience is preferred
Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude
Strong legal research and writing skills
Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required

Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
