Research Assistant
Temple University is seeking a Research Assistant in the College of Science & Technology's Biology division. The role involves performing research in collaboration with the Boni Lab, focusing on mathematical modeling to address artemisinin resistance in Africa and forecasting malaria transmission scenarios.
Responsibilities
Perform research in collaboration with the Boni Lab focused on mathematical modeling of response strategies to the current urgent problem in Africa of responding to the recent emergence of artemisinin resistance on the continent
Assemble data for different countries' epidemiological and drug-resistance situations
Parameterization of country-level scenarios with all the assembled data
Build and/or visualize additional models to make near-term and long-term malaria forecasts
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in biology or any computational field like statistics, applied math, data science, or engineering (or other relevant field)
Six months of related research experience
Competence in scientific language and computational tools like R and Python
Strong interest in applied global health work
Proficiency in data management
Strong attention to detail
Ability to communicate well and use social media platforms
