Responsibilities
Advise healthcare providers on operational, transactional, licensing, regulatory, and compliance matters
Provide legal counsel to hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, freestanding emergency medical care facilities, pharmacies, post-acute care providers (e.g., home health, SNFs, hospices), physicians, dentists, and other healthcare organizations
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of healthcare-related agreements, including:
Physician employment and recruitment agreements
Professional and physician services agreements
Asset/equity purchase agreements
Management agreements
Operating agreements
Conduct legal research and provide guidance on complex healthcare regulatory issues, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and other federal and state healthcare regulations
Assist clients with corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other transactional matters in the healthcare space
Maintain and expand a portable book of business, with a focus on building long-term client relationships
Collaborate with partners and clients to develop strategic legal solutions that align with business goals
Qualification
Required
J.D. from an accredited law school and active Texas Bar license
5+ years of relevant experience in healthcare transactions, corporate law, or regulatory compliance
Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including fraud and abuse laws, reimbursement, and licensing requirements
Commitment to growing a client base in healthcare law
Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Detail-oriented with strong contract drafting and negotiation experience
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively counsel clients
