Vice President & General Manager of Finance
Sojitz Corporation of America is seeking a Vice President & General Manager of Finance to manage and expand their Trade Finance, Cash Management, and Treasury activities. The role involves overseeing daily operations, developing staff, and providing financial advisory services to both the corporation and its subsidiaries in the Americas.
Responsibilities
Develop and oversee group financing activities, including cash pooling and intercompany loan between Sojitz group entities in the Americas
Oversee the activities and operations of the Cash Management functions (Wire, ACH, Check)
Oversee complex trade finance functions. Provide support and technical advice and guidance to Finance and the business departments
Control and oversee reconciliation of SCA cash accounts with the bank statement
Maximize SCA’s profits by minimizing excess cash and avoiding insufficient cash in any accounts
Prepare cash flow forecast and report to related parties
Oversee and control all borrowing operations from relationship banks
Manage loan receivables and payable with Sojitz group companies
Manage FX risk
Look through various risks/regulation (i.e.. withholding tax) and advise to related parties
Coordinate with Sojitz Global Finance and HQ Treasury to align regional funding strategies and manage currency exposures
Provide financial advisory and analytical support to group companies for financing, investment, and banking relationship matters
Lead the evolution of the Finance Department into a regional treasury hub that supports Sojitz’s subsidiaries and affiliates through centralized funding solutions and financial governance
Train, develop and motivate staff by providing guidance, technical information, supervision and establishing a working environment conducive to positive morale and teamwork
Build and maintain partnerships with other Finance teams in the region as well as Sojitz HQ to ensure alignment with group-wide treasury initiatives
Meet with various bank representatives to discuss fees and services offered to meet our strategic financial objectives
Planning and implementing financial strategies
Preparing budget and forecast
Administrative tasks for the department’s operation
Investigate, coordinate and provide information in a timely manner for the Accounting Department, Auditors and Business Departments
Support accounting department responsibilities (e.g. payment instruction related requests, bank statement related requests by internal and external auditors, etc.)
Handling internal approval process required (e.g. bank related, investment, etc.) and preparing opinion later from finance professional perspective to support decision makers
Support in strategy and investment management, or any ad hoc projects
Qualification
Required
BA Degree in Finance
Minimum 7 years' experience with banking, (i.e. including wiring funds, deposits, rate negotiations, L/C's, B/C's, all import/export transactions, calculations of loan rates.)
Requires managerial background. Must possess strong supervisory and analytical skills
Ability to design and implement treasury systems and processes supporting multiple entities
Thorough knowledge of banking rules and regulations
Knowledge of rules governing L/C's-UCP 600
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to maintain highly confidential information
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of staff and management
Ability to supervise staff in accounting/finance function effectively
Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office
Preferred
Experience in corporate or regional treasury management preferred
Familiarity with intercompany funding, liquidity management, and FX hedging strategies
Knowledge of SAP is a nice to have
