Responsibilities

Monitor daily cash positions and execute cash flow forecasting to ensure liquidity needs are met efficiently
Reconcile bank statements and perform general ledger account reconciliations, including balance sheet and account analysis
Prepare and review financial reports, including cash flow statements, balance sheets, and income statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft
Support regulatory reporting requirements by maintaining detailed records in accordance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards and securities law
Assist in budgeting, financial analysis, and forecasting activities to inform strategic decision-making
Collaborate with internal teams on internal controls, including SOX compliance and audit preparations
Maintain accurate records of journal entries, account reconciliation activities, and financial transactions using various accounting software tools
Provide mentorship to junior team members in technical accounting practices, non-profit accounting standards, or governmental accounting procedures as needed
Support treasury operations related to securities law compliance, estate planning (wills & trusts), and other legal considerations impacting financial management

Required

Proven experience in corporate or non-profit accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial concepts
Demonstrated expertise in treasury functions such as cash management, bank reconciliation, and liquidity analysis
Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as SOX compliance and securities law is highly desirable
Experience with financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and general ledger reconciliation
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis and budget forecasting
Excellent communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across departments involved in financial services or legal estate planning

Preferred

Prior experience in public accounting or governmental accounting is a plus
Ability to mentor team members in technical accounting topics like accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, or tax-related issues such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit)
