Responsibilities
Conduct hands-on network validation and certification testing of complex optical network components and systems
Execute test plans and provide data-based conclusions and results. Develop, expand, and improve existing test plans
Conduct hands-on proof-of-concept testing and design validation/innovation of Layer 1/2/3 network designs
Participate in or lead project meetings to report progress, discuss issues and resolutions, and ensure solution requirements are met
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 days per week office presence
Hands-on experience with high performance network equipment
Experience with Ethernet and TCP/IP networking (L2/L3)
Experience with PON (Passive Optical Networks)
Experience with Network Security
Experience with Optical Transport (Dark Fiber, DWDM)
Conduct hands-on network validation and certification testing of complex optical network components and systems
Execute test plans and provide data-based conclusions and results
Develop, expand, and improve existing test plans
Conduct hands-on proof-of-concept testing and design validation/innovation of Layer 1/2/3 network designs
Participate in or lead project meetings to report progress, discuss issues and resolutions, and ensure solution requirements are met
Bachelor's or Master's of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
Strong understanding of network security principles, firewalls, and common vulnerabilities
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Python, shell script, Javascript, Powershell, etc
Familiarity with one or more virtualization/cloud technologies and platforms such as VMware, KVM, Docker, AWS, Azure, GCP, etc
Capable of proficient and fluent verbal and written communication with peers, partners, and vendors
Able to interpret and produce clear and concise documentation of test plans, results, bugs and troubleshooting steps
Ability to manage and deliver upon demands of multiple, simultaneous tasks in a team environment
Preferred
Prior hands-on experience gained through employment, internship, projects, study, or independent research
CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification
Cisco CCNA or higher certification
Palo Alto PCCSA or higher certification
Similar entry-level network/security certifications
