The Director of Policy oversees policy matters, develops new initiatives, and acts as the liaison for intergovernmental and legislative affairs, while also managing communications and press matters.
Responsibilities
Oversees policy matters, including the development and implementation of new initiatives and applicable local laws
Acts as the intergovernmental and legislative affairs liaison
Serves as the agency’s primary liaison on interagency policy programs, such as the Vision Zero Task Force
Works closely with the General Counsel and legal unit on rulemaking and CAPA hearings
May help coordinate and participate in other agency public meetings and outreach events
Supports the Commissioner or other executive staff at high-level meetings and public-facing events
Handles all communications and press matters under the direction of the Commissioner
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above
