Intermodal Rate Analyst

Responsibilities
Coordinate the full lifecycle of customer bids & RFP/RFQ responses, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
Initiate collaboration for internal pricing, sales, and operation teams to develop competitive pricing solutions for both new and existing customers
Analyze incumbent business performance, identifying profitability trends using internal and external tools & oversees solutions, suggests bid direction based on collaborative pricing provided by all divisions
Preparation for evaluation for new business opportunities through cost modeling, competitor benchmarking, and margin analysis to key players
Prepares customer specific pricing strategies with data-driven insights and historical performance reviews for pricing leadership to review
Uses pricing databases, bid templates, and documentation for ease of access and accuracy
Assist supervisory personnel with tracking and reporting bid outcomes, and pricing performance
Act as the primary liaison between the Account Executives and internal divisions to ensure pricing is provided based on freight characteristics, customer needs, market imbalances, and expected operating ratios
Complete additional rate related projects, analysis, and other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel
Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel
Qualification
Required
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Strong mathematical skills
Ability to operate a computer terminal and/or personal computer. Intermediate MS Excel skills required
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to perform and organize several projects at one time
Preferred
Knowledge of D.O.T and I.C.C. requirements, usually gained through practical experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent experience
One to two years transportation rate experience
One to two years P.C. computer experience, with an Excel emphasis
Zero to six months customer service experience
