Responsibilities

Under the direction of the WMC Engineering leadership team, the Senior Capital Projects Coordinator manages the annual capital threshold and non-threshold projects and 5-10 year capital improvement program, develops and coordinates the implementation of the facilities capital improvement program throughout the medical center building portfolio by assessing equipment, systems, user input, and latest regulatory standards, to ensure safe, effective equipment operation and efficient utilities usage, and communicates across the health system, university administration, and other university facilities departments
The Senior Capital Projects Coordinator identifies the short- and long-term capital needs of medical buildings systems including but not limited to HVAC, controls, plumbing, steam, heating hot water, chilled water, medical gas, fire alarm, fire protection, emergency power generation and distribution and main electrical utility distribution, pneumatic tube system, trash / linen conveyance systems, lighting controls, nurse call, building envelope, and elevators
The position develops scope, procures budget estimates, and coordinates technical direction through project completion
Gathers and analyzes data and prepares, coordinates, and presents capital planning recommendations throughout the organization
The Senior Capital Projects Coordinator will operate with a very high level of autonomy and typically serves as a building systems planner/project coordinator utilizing both internal and external consultants and resources
Projects developed by this position are of considerable scope, value, and frequently involve a high level of problem resolution and negotiation
This position can manage the administrative functions of staff assigned to producing opinions of probable cost, including managing consulting engineers, construction companies and leading internal staff
The position will also mentor and aid in the development of FOD Operations staff, supporting the department’s overall goals and mission

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management or equivalent experience
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required

Preferred

4-8 years of relevant experience, preferably with hospital and medical building settings, including mechanical and electrical systems
Experienced Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer
Knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements such as NEC, ASHRAE, OSHA, OBC, NFPA, TJC, FGI, ADA, HIPAA
Experience with CADD, Revit, BIM, or other computer drafting programs
Experience within a medical center/health care facility, academic, and/or infrastructure projects; public sector and/or university experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and creating presentation documents
Ability to create and maintain strong team collaboration; and foster a positive work environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse and customer service focused environment; and build constructive and effective relationships within team and across the organization
Ability to comfortably handle risk and uncertainty; can act without having total picture available
Demonstrated proficient diagnostic skills - able to systematically identify and resolve technical problems
