DVRT and Legal Program Specialist

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton is seeking a DVRT and Legal Program Specialist to manage the DVRT program and provide legal options counseling for clients. Responsibilities

Provide 40 hour training to volunteers of various police departments and domestic violence police liaisons
Provide training for county police departments, as requested
Assist in recruiting, interviewing, selection and training of team members and leaders
Facilitate and supervise regular team meetings and team leader meetings
Act as liaison between PHDVS and law enforcement; maintain positive working relationships with police personnel
Plan and facilitate team review meetings with department DV Liaisons
Represent PHDVS at the county working group meetings
Track and manage police association donations and budget for volunteer appreciation and training
Provide skills training for current volunteers, per grant requirements
Participate in program development and attend trainings/conferences on project related issues
Be available to DVRT responders for supervision and support via phone, email and team meetings
Maintain current DVRT affiliation agreements with local police departments
Provide relevant information to meet grant-reporting requirements
Provide speaking engagements; attend community events, and other duties as assigned
Administrative duties as assigned
Serve on Catholic Charities committees as needed
Provide crisis intervention services to victims of domestic violence
Provide victims with supportive legal options counseling as well as information on their rights under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act to resident and non-resident clients
Provide referral services to eligible domestic violence victims about their right to access financial relief through the VCCO
Keep supervisor informed of matters that need advocacy within the police departments
Assist victims through the Family Court process by providing pre and post hearing support
Provide technical assistance to victims applying for restraining orders and/or responding to court paper work
Provide domestic violence legal options counseling, including safety planning, referrals and education to victims involved in domestic violence proceedings at Superior Court via face-to-face meetings and/or written materials
Maintain appropriate and current documentation in files
Report on VAG/DVRT activities as directed
