Research Engineer
The University of Michigan is seeking a Research Engineer to conduct research on impact biomechanics and injury prevention. The role involves parametric human body modeling, crash simulations, and the development of engineering components for research projects.

Responsibilities
Research on impact biomechanics and injury prevention under various crash conditions
Work on parametric human body modeling, including statistical human geometry model integration, mesh mapping, and morphing techniques to change the geometry of finite element (FE) human body models to represent populations with a wide range of size and shape
Set up FE vehicle crash simulations with parametric human body models, simulation pre- and post-processing, and data analysis
Develop engineering components of research projects, including finite element modeling and crash simulations, design of experiment (DoE) for parametric analysis, Matlab coding, crash testing, and design optimizations
Prepare journal articles, technical reports, and conference papers
Participate at conferences and technical meetings
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline
Coursework entailing research involving parametric human body modeling and crash simulations
At least 1 article (authored or co-authored) on biomechanics in a peer-reviewed professional journal
Background check and drug screen required upon offer acceptance
